Hypeworthy | The Acid – The Acid EP

the acid ep

There’s been nothing else over the last week that’s seized my attention as thoroughly as the debut self-titled EP from The Acid (stylized as The ꓃ á‘„ ê’› á—Œ, or ∴ â ª â …â •, or ᕔᕳIᕸ, etc). Almost nothing is known about the band — no band photos, member names, hometowns, labels, and no replies to my efforts to find out more — but since music this well produced doesn’t tend to fall from the sky, I’m imagining a label push and official release will be obvious soon.

So, for now, all we do know about The Acid is how good songs like the EP’s centerpiece “Fame” is:

A friend asked me to describe what they sound like, so naturally I hit the hyperbole train and said something like, “Animal Collective, Radiohead, James Blake and M83. Not as good as what that would sound like, but, you know.” There’s some seriously masterful production throughout the EP, touching on elements of those bands and scratching at the surface of such a ridiculous collaboration. So put down those torches and pitchforks for a moment and crank this shit to 11, and if you still disagree and want to burn me, you know where to find me (hint: probably somewhere around here).
