[MP3] new MillionYoung: “Calrissian”

Mike Diaz, the Floridian behind MillionYoung, has been hard at work on a brand new LP titled Atmospheric Beast. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an unmastered advance copy a few weeks ago and have been spinning it (too much) ever since. A combination of sexy synth, dazzling keys, and melodies from an assortment of eras – MillionYoung is on the upward climb and isn’t looking down:

The first single “Calrissian”, either named after the famed Star Wars character or a Russian version of Clarissa Explains It All, is a gushingly gorgeous track. Starting out with shakers and bells, the simple guitar builds a melody that sounds as if it’s been pulled straight out of an era containing 50s bliss. Combining the charm of decades past with enticing electronic techniques of modern day music, Diaz uses dreamy effected vocals and keys to deliver a short/sweet track making anticipation for Atmospheric Beast all the greater.

Don’t forget, MillionYoung will be playing our fantastic Floating Fest this Thursday during CMJ, so prepare for some new bangin’ tunes. Atmospheric Beast releases in February 2011 via Old Flame Records.
