Listen | Day Joy: “Purple”

I try to keep our Small Plates label separate from IGIF sometimes… That means not always writing about what we put out (but c’mon, would I really release something I wouldn’t even blog about?). But in this case, I just love Day Joy too much, and wrote about them long before we had any intention or inclination of working with each other. So this is just an awesome plus.

So now that the cat’s out of the bag, awkward disclaimer disclaimed, let’s get on with the show:

“Purple” is literally the centerpiece of Day Joy’s upcoming debut LP (out February 13th on Small Plates), capping the slowly brewing first half with a transformative song about the changing seasons, growing up and moving on. Purple like a new bruise, sorely swelling and blood-warm to the touch, but reassuringly ephemeral. Everything passes: seasons, moods, bruises and broken bones. Side A to side B.
