We told you the crazy news that Skrillex’s OWSLA label is putting out Hundred Waters‘s upcoming Thistle remix EP, and even had the video proof to back up that claim. Now we’ve got our first taste of what that actually sounds like, with L.A.’s TOKiMONSTA serving up the first remix of the series:
Kudos for TOKiMONSTA for managing to make Nicole Miglis sound completely unrecognizable without damaging her pitch. I’ve listened to the original more times than I probably should admit and this remix does what remixes should do — it’s a compliment, not a reconstruction: a take on the same song fed through the creative channels of a different artist. And after I’ve damn near exhausted the explorative qualities of Hundred Waters’s debut LP, it’s really great to have something new to poke and prod at.
