One of my favorite bands, Bowerbirds, released one of my favorite albums in 2009 titled Upper Air. The melodies, soaring instrumentation, and harmonies the flourishing folk outfit produce are driving, deliberate, and beyond moving. They’re preparing to release a new LP this March titled The Clearing with new track “Tuck The Darkness In” serving up the first sample:
If this is a sample then I’m screwed. I can’t control myself to a single serving of something this good, similar to how Christian Slater can’t control himself around caviar. What starts as a simple song swirling into your ear canals soars straight into your brain the final two minutes. Guitars, drums, strings, vibraphones, and what sounds like a musical saw echoing in the background push this song to limit. I can’t wait for the new album, catch them on tour in 2012.
