![Holiday Shores cover [MP3] new Holiday Shores: Spells](http://www.iguessimfloating.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Holiday-Shores-art.jpeg)
Change is a good thing and Holiday Shores have certainly gone through lots of change. They’ve switched band members so much, referencing “musical chairs” is not only cliche but an understatement. On top of members that come and go, Holiday Shores (specifically head honcho Nathan Pemberton) have also changed their overall sound in a manner that can only be described as “growth”. Have a listen to brand new single “Spells” below:
[MP3] Holiday Shores – Spells
I’ve loved Holiday Shores for a long time and, up until now, they were purveyors of terrific jangly guitar rock that had more reverb than a spelunking boys choir. Catchy guitar riffs still run rampant on sophomore LP New Masses for Squaw Peak but they’ve also upped the production value ten-fold. Compostions like “Spells” contain driving bass lines, serene keys, drifting vocals, and a dark pop feel David Byrne emits so well. If the record is anything like “Spells”, constantly shifting and staying away from boring verse-chorus-verse formulas, Holiday Shores are going to be turning lots of heads.

definitely a different sound from their last album (Columbus’d The Whim) but i dont care, i feel like i’ve been waiting SO Long for them to come out with some new stuff. i’ve been FoLLowing them since they were Continental Divide, and i 100% like their old stuff better (as far as this 1 track goes) but i do enjoy it either way. although this sounds more talking-heads-pop-friendly, they always have that light-lo-fi-beachy-feel to their tracks, and the xylophones are always appreciated :) I hope to hear more from this new album asap!!
