After many random clicks and unnecessary open tabs later, I stumbled across this gem of a tune yesterday afternoon by young New Orleans outfit Empress Hotel. I’ve never been to the Big Easy and am looking to change that soon, until then I can take solace in the open container mixture of refreshing indie pop on the rocks.

The last funky fun band from New Orleans I got into, Givers, are all about upbeat contagiousness and have gone on to turn some heads since suddenly appearing in 2009. “Mach Bach” is an enjoyable summertime tune, with great percussion, playful keys, and a memorable melody. To top it off, they group made a killer video featuring way more than 99 luftballoons! Stream their whole EP and be sure to check the vid below!
