[MP3] new Panda Bear: “The Preakness”

Being from Kentucky, I have a certain cultural heritage that links me to college basketball, the world’s best bourbon, and thoroughbred horse racing. The illustrious Kentucky Derby, the fastest three minutes in all of sports, is simply the beginning of a three part horse racing trifecta that moves up the east coast making it’s second stop outside of Baltimore. That race is called The Preakness and now Baltimorean Noah Lennox has made it a song. As much as this blogging Kentuckian loves horse racing, another animal has stolen the spotlight and it shouldn’t be surprising that it’s Panda Bear.

Taken from an exclusive mixtape released via KEEP shoes, “The Preakness” is a gorgeous song unfolding in a slowed, semi-conscious state producing feelings of liquidity and amiability. There have been so many tracks slowly surfacing from Panda Bear these past few months and although “The Preakness” won’t be on his upcoming LP, I’m loving the different tastes he’s given our musical palettes. Yet, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready for the levee to break and fully engulf me in his lush sounds. So close, yet so far away.
