[MP3 Premiere] Otis Heat: “Everybody Loves Me the Same Way”

I’m not sure where the ratio of good-to-bad music delivered to IGIF’s inbox currently stands, but I know the bad guys are certainly winning the fight. When I get some fresh tunes that are actually ear pleasing, it tends to perk up my day a bit like a shot of espresso in the morning. There’s something to be said about having the good music come to you every once and awhile. When said tunes contain funk, funk, and more funk – it’s even better. Meet Portland’s Otis Heat, purveyors of groovy bass lines, rhythmic riffs, and a dosage of audible psilocybin making the trip worthwhile:

This is the type of band that would probably take you by surprise when you’re at a bar, meeting some friends for a pint that ultimately winds up being eight pints. With shades of The Black Keys, Portugal. The Man, and some homage to Jack White – Otis Heat make for an enjoyable listen. They’re heading to SXSW this year, offering up their EP for free download, and perform an absolutely righteous cover of Doris Day’s “Que Sera, Sera” that you’ve gotta hear right now:

Be sure to check out the cool, DIY video for “Everybody Loves Me the Same Way” after the jump. Hopefully we’ll hear more from this funky trio soon.
