Anna Calvi, an artist who was sent my way last week, first graced my speakers this past weekend and has been quite the dark temptress since then. Her self-titled debut just dropped this week rather quietly, especially considering she sports Domino Records as her label of choice. I haven’t heard a LP like this in quite awhile, dark and brooding yet seductive and memorable. Heavy guitar riffs and crashing percussion drive a lot of the tracks, fitting her strong voice perfectly almost giving it a James Bond-esque appeal:

This song is slow-building, steamy, and sounds like it would rock you to the core live. Aside from the chorus getting stuck in my head worse than a cognitive itch I can’t scratch, it’s got depth that definitely adds allure to the live set. In fact, I first fell in love with Anna Calvi watching her play this track live and bet it’ll help hook you faster too.
