[Video] Glasser: “Treasury of We” (Live)

Glasser Schematic [Video] Glasser: Treasury of We (Live)

It’s Friday, which is reason enough to be happy, but if your spirits need some lifting then I have just the thing to do it. The following video is one of the coolest things I’ve seen all week (sans dancing Florence and the Machine baby who cries when the song is over), not to mention answers some questions I had when watching Glasser perform a short set live during CMJ at Fader Fort.

Cameron Mesirow was essentially a one-woman band before expanding to a full lineup and making Glasser’s sound even more dynamic. What I always wondered was how this four-piece managed to make such rich sounds, including things like saxophones and xylophones, when all they had was an electric guitar, drum kit, keyboard, and a computer. Of course, a computer makes anything possible and (as you’ll see after the jump) the guitarist who was used to shredding solos suddenly had each string of his guitar represent a different instrument! I’m no musician and maybe I’m an instrument simpleton but that’s some innovative stuff. Watch Glasser pull back the technological curtain below and display their craftiness in full effect with a live rendition of “Treasury of We”.
