[MP3] new Andrew Bird: “Hot Math”

New Andrew Bird always grabs my attention, and his new LP Useless Creatures is no exception. There is a slight difference in my level of excitement though, since this material is all instrumental I’m only doing a jumping fist-pump while shouting “Woo!” instead of a jumping heel-click. Actually, I’m still sitting in a cubicle with my earbuds securely in place but if I wasn’t trapped in this fluorescent lit prison.. there would be one head enthusiastically popping above the sea of temporary walls.

Before pressing play, doesn’t the track title “Hot Math” just scream Andrew Bird? Unfortunately it’s the only thing that does any sort of talking on this seven minute instrumental jam, yet that’s not a terrible thing. Anyone who has seen Bird live (so incredible) knows firsthand how he crafts his song, laying the groundwork with instrumentals and loops before muttering a single word or pursing his lips together to expel the best whistle of indie rock.

Useless Creatures will come out on Bella Union October 25^th.
