Introducing: Small Plates Records

When we started IGIF in 2005 we had just one goal in mind: to share our passion for independent music and culture with people who seek to explore their respective depths as much as we do. Over time that extended from blogging about our favorite new bands to putting on shows at SXSW and CMJ (more about CMJ soon), and now that swell of appreciation and good intentions has taken another turn. We call it Small Plates.

Small Plates is a label-based cooperative from the hearts and minds of IGIF and YVYNYL. Our most immediate goal is helping new bands get some 7″ vinyl love and eventually we’ll expand with a roster and full releases. For the time being we’ll forego any sort of mission statement and get right to the meat and bones of our first release.

We’re thrilled to launch Small Plates with the debut vinyl release from NYC’s Guards (who we know you’ve read about). This 7″ release has three tracks: “Resolution of One” is on the a-side, while the double b-side has “Crystal Truth” and “Long Time”.

We’ve pressed a limited quantity of 500 copies on multi-colored vinyl (what some have called a “glorious orgy of color”) from URP. You can simultaneously bank on the success of Guards and Small Plates by picking up your share of history-in-the-making (we love to hyperbolizizize). Here’s “Resolution of One” for your listening pleasure:
