[MP3] Sweet Lights: “Ballad of Kurt Vile #2″

Sweet Lights band [MP3] Sweet Lights: Ballad of Kurt Vile #2
Dare I say in an age of dictatorial digitalism and synth heavy sounds, each with their own blessing/curse dichotomy, it’s increasingly refreshing to hear well structured, organic rock and roll. Delivering said refreshing sound is the solo/side project of Philadelphia musician Shai Halperin, creating music under the moniker Sweet Lights. Halperin played with The Capitol Years and War on Drugs before branching out on his own.

“Ballad of Kurt Vile #2″ utilizes just enough effects and slick production to make it really stand out. Halperin was raised on Jeff Lynne, Olivia Newton John, and tons of retro-pop. He’s an extremely talented musician and each song on his self-titled debut is a solid piece of wholesome musical work. Check out Sweet Lights’ bandcamp to spin/purchase his LP and check out the keyboard sporadic tune “Endless Town” after the jump.

Really liking the lil interlude around 2 minutes for Endless Town and the slow fade at the end.
