[mpFree] Warm Waves’ Lifted EP

I’m going to be completely straight with you. I’ve been trying much harder than I usually do to like Warm Waves. I gave them more of a chance than most bands that don’t catch me after a listen or two. And I did this all because of how fucking awesome the art is! It’s like the three tiny bitches from Honey I Shrunk The Kids found a hose dripping over a rock in their dad’s backyard and someone caught the moment on a Holga cam for Nat Geo in 1973.

So maybe my superficiality has just given you reason to scroll down to the next post, but let me do all I can to STOP! you for a moment, because guess what… the music is pretty good, as long as you’re willing to open your minds a little bit.

I do hope one day Warm Waves’ music becomes a little more engaging, but for the time being we’ve got to learn to truly become one with chillness. Introspection is the lost art putting ourselves down over the things in our lives that don’t matter nearly as much as we’re making them out to. And this is the sort of music that makes you realize that. It’s like chillgaze met up with post-rock, bought a couple brews, and had a long heart-to-heart. They just talked. And it was good.
