[mpFree] Slow Animal’s Self Titled EP

It’s been an extremely busy Monday but I’ve had time to take a dip into the new tunes pool while grabbing lunch, thoroughly enjoying the lo-fi fuzz of Slow Animal. Although “slow” can be found in their namesake, don’t let it fool you as this young two-piece from New Jersey have mastered the fast fusion of high energy garage rock with sloppy guitar pop. If done right, the washed out surf-rock sound really flourishes in two-to-three minute bursts and Slow Animal are showcasing just that:

They’ve got an almost Beach Fossils meets male Best Coast sound with more youthful pep in their step and sunshine in their sound. These guys are young and only released their self-titled EP this year, so the future is indeed looking bright.
