New! The Rapture: "W.A.Y.U.H."

News to me: Dance Punk advocates The Rapture have teamed up with Danger Mouse (pssh…who hasn’t?) for their new album! Here’s the first leaked single:

[MP3] The RaptureW.A.Y.U.H.
Umm…Talking Heads much? Jeeyayysus… I mean, influence is one thing, but this is down right theft… I can’t think of the name of the song, but isn’t there a TH song that’s almost exactly the same thing? Anyway, doesn’t change the fact that this is a good song. I wasn’t too much of an Echoes fanatic, but I really like what I hear so far… I guess a little Danger Mouse does the body good.

Check out more from The Rapture at the Hype Machine.

[edit: Band requested I take the song down, sorry]

paul epworth is producing their new album, i wonder if this is a one-off track with danger mouse?

not neccessarily like cities. It reminds me of a bunch of Talking Heads shit but not in total ripoff sort of way. more of a homage to compass point. although it does have that fade up intro???

Nuh uh I’m gonna say “The Great Curve”

parabasis April 11, 2006 at 7:42 am

The song I believe you think it is ripping off is”THE GREAT CURVE”, track 4 off of “Remain In Light”… and it rips off fairly specifically the polyrhythms and the guitar line.

At least, I think…

i still have it up…and a wierd anonymous poster claims to have produced the track…not DM, but Phones and Ewan.

sleepingfriend April 11, 2006 at 11:08 pm

the bass line sounds like “What a Day That Was” from David Byrne’s Catherine Wheel… but Talking Heads did play it live on Stop Making Sense

HI – You’re all wrong. The ripped off song is I Zimbra from Fear of Music. The opening is identical. I’m an old fart and Heads fan…..
