Electo-pop experts Zero 7 have (finally?) collaborated with folk upstart José González…and the result is a little more pleasing than you’d think. You may or may not know, but this isn’t the first time our Argentinian friend has dipped his hand into the techie cookie jar…he aslo covered The Knife‘s “Heartbeats” only to later have one of his songs remixed by them. It’s a funny world we live in…
[MP3] Zero 7 w/ Jose Gonzalez – Futures
The song begins really well with both acts exhibiting their trademark styles…José’s skilled finger picking matched with Zero 7’s suave, slow matched beat. The later result is something that reminds me a little bit of James Taylor, 80’s style. Acid-trip synth, soothing, layered vocals, and that cool-mint, refreshing aftertaste. It’s a good song, don’t get me wrong, but I think I prefer them left to their own respective devices.
What do you guys think?
