Guitar is yet another project from German musician Michael Lückner, known for his deep interest in creating music as an enriching aural experience, something he believes most average “bands” fail to provide. His latest album Tokyo, set for a February 2006 release, explores the sound of traditional japanese guitars–the sitar, pipa, and koto–by layering masterful plucking arrangements over steady hip-hop-like beats. The result is, as Lückner had hoped, quite aurally pleasing:
Guitar – Akiko (Highly Rec’d)
The other 8 tracks on the album follow a consistently similar sound, a few with the aide of Ayako Akashiba on vocals. You can look for Tokyo in February. Until then, check out Guitar’s Official Site and the label’s Tokyo site.
