Looks like Thursday has arrived again, which means a tri-fecta of covers of course. So, here we go.
Onelinedrawing – In My Life
I don’t think there is a band that is covered more than The Beatles, in fact I know there isn’t. So don’t be surprised if they make this little list again. This cover, however, is pretty awesome. Onelinedrawing, the solo act of Jonah Matranga, does a brilliant job of covering one of the best Beatles songs while managing to work in a verse from another popular Beatles song. See if you can pick it out.
Elliott Smith – Trouble
I don’t think I’ve ever heard Elliott make a bad cover, and he’s done a ton of them. This one was intended to be released on his last album but only managed to make the demo release. This is one of Cat Stevens’ greatest tunes, and hearing Elliott’s voice sing it, well…It’s pretty comforting.
Sun Kil Moon – Dramamine
You know you like covers when you release an entire album strictly of them. Sun Kil Moon released an entire album covering various songs from the lengthy catalogue of Modest Mouse. I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews on this album, most either loving or hating it. I personally enjoyed it, mainly because Modest Mouse is my favorite band, but any casual listener should enjoy it.

Actually the Elliott song was released on the “Thumbsucker” soundtrack, as well as his cover of “Thirteen” by Big Star.
That “In My Life” cover is incredible…
…and I caught the other Beatles song he tossed in there for a verse – “Sixty-four”, right?
i have the thumbsucker soundtrack also, but i would figrue the general population wouldn’t, so sorry.
