You know…I’m pretty reasonable for an indie snob. I’m just gonna say it: I like Pitchfork. The writing, while very pretentious, is good. They are usually fair, knowledgeable, and despite pressure to give in to the man and sell out, they’ve remained an independant website (always a good thing). But why the FUCK do they hate Matt Pond PA????? I mean, to each his own, but when this CD came out (er…leaked), I really liked it. I still really like it. But Pitchfork has a history of hate when it comes to this band, which in many respects is a very good band…even if the singer does look like Jack Black.
I first heard Matt Pond PA when I saw them open up for Ted Leo/Rx earlier this year, and they put on a good show. I got their cd “The Nature Of Maps” and loved almost every minute of it… The new CD, in my opinion, isn’t as good, but with tracks like “Halloween” and “City Song”, it’s still a great album. So FUCK YOU Pitchfork. There, I said it.
